Cannes is best taken at classic car speed. Roll slowly up the Croisette between the palms and the beach clubs, past the steps of the Palais des Festivals, then climb to Le Suquet, the old town, whose tower looks down on the Old Port and the whole bay. Classic car rental in Cannes is mostly about that: no rush, roof down, on one of the most photographed seafronts in the world.
Cannes is also a gateway. West lies the Estérel and its red rocks. North, Mougins, Grasse and its perfume houses, then the Cabris plateau. At the back of the bay, the Tanneron hills turn yellow with mimosa every winter. Few towns give you so many different landscapes within an hour's drive.

Croisette, Pointe Croisette and La Californie

Start at the Palais des Festivals and follow the full length of the Croisette east, past Port Pierre Canto, to Pointe Croisette. Straight ahead sit the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, just offshore. Round the point on Boulevard Eugène-Gazagnaire along the Mouré Rouge beaches, then climb into the hills of La Californie, a district of villas with views across the bay to the Estérel. Drop back down to the Old Port and finish at the foot of Le Suquet.
Mougins, Grasse and the Cabris lookout
Half a day, about 60 km
Head north through Le Cannet to Mougins, the spiral hill village where Picasso spent his final years. Carry on to Grasse: the old town, historic perfume houses, fields of centifolia roses in May and jasmine at the end of summer. From there the road climbs to Cabris, whose lookout takes in Lake Saint-Cassien, the Estérel and, on a clear day, the sea. Keen drivers can push on along the Route Napoléon to Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey before heading back down to Cannes.
The Tanneron hills and Lake Saint-Cassien
Half a day, about 65 km
Head for Mandelieu-la-Napoule, then climb into the Tanneron massif, Europe's largest mimosa forest, in bloom from January to March. Narrow ridge roads, wooded hills and glimpses of the bay of Cannes lead down to Lake Saint-Cassien, with its quiet shores and green water, ideal for a lunch stop. Return via Montauroux and the valley, or straight back to the coast.

- Best time to go
- The car is yours from 9 am to 8 pm. April, May, June and September bring quieter roads and lovely light. In February the Tanneron is in bloom and Mandelieu holds its Mimosa Festival. During the Film Festival in May and the big trade fairs, traffic around the Palais gets tricky, so allow extra time.
- Driving and parking in Cannes
- The Croisette gets busy in season, so drive it early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Le Suquet is best explored on foot, its lanes being steep and narrow. Leave the car in one of the underground car parks in the centre, near the Old Port or the Palais, rather than on the street.
- Rental conditions
- You need to be 25 or over and have held a licence for at least 3 years. Insurance covers two drivers and 150 km per day are included. A deposit secures the booking, the balance is due at handover, and the security deposit ranges from €4,000 to €12,000 depending on the car. The tank is full at pick-up and goes back full.

Which wedding car should we choose in Cannes?
It depends on your plans. For a chauffeured arrival, the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and Corniche come with a driver for six hours. If you want to drive yourselves, a Mercedes Pagoda or Jaguar E-Type convertible makes for the best photos on the Croisette. With witnesses on board, go for a four-seater: the Ford Mustang V8 or the Mercedes 350SL.
Can we drive to the Estérel and back in a day?
Yes. Cannes to Saint-Raphaël along the Corniche d'Or is roughly 40 km, so about 80 km there and back, well within the 150 km included. That still leaves room for a detour to Mougins at the end of the day.
Can we book a car for a photo shoot in Cannes?
Yes, photo and video shoots are part of what we do, and our cars have worked with Victoria's Secret and on The Substance. We deliver the car to your location. For professional filming on public roads, permits from the city are handled by the production.
How many passengers can we take?
Most of our cars are two-seaters. For four people, pick the Ford Mustang, Mercedes 350SL R107, Karmann Ghia or Mini Moke, or a Rolls Royce with chauffeur.
When can we see the mimosa and the Grasse flowers?
Tanneron mimosa blooms from January to March, peaking in February. In Grasse, centifolia roses are picked in May and jasmine from August to October. Good reasons to leave the coast outside peak season.
