Driving the De Vinci Brigitte
Nothing else in the fleet looks like the Brigitte. Picture a small pre-war racing car, wire wheels, aero screens, and underneath it an 18 hp electric motor. No clutch and no gears: press the pedal and it goes, with the instant torque that makes it surprisingly lively away from the lights. The silence is the real surprise. You hear the sea, the cicadas and your passenger, not an exhaust. You sit close to the ground with nothing overhead, two seats and no real boot, so pack light. It is built for town and coast roads, not the motorway or long mountain climbs. It suits anyone who has never driven a classic and is wary of a manual gearbox, and it is a gift for photographers who want a vintage look without noise or petrol fumes.
Where to drive it
Cap d'Antibes fits it perfectly: flat, slow and gorgeous roads. Start in Juan-les-Pins, follow the shore to Garoupe beach, then loop around the cape on Boulevard John F. Kennedy with the sea a few metres away and umbrella pines above. Finish along the ramparts and Port Vauban. Twenty kilometres or so make a perfect morning. The car is based in Nice, so ask for delivery to Antibes on quote.
